Hon. Mustapha Ussif, embarked on an academic journey that culminated in his mastery of International Business and Management. Graduating from Bagabaga Teacher Training College and Anglia Ruskin University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010 before pursuing further studies at the University of Gloucestershire, where he attained a master’s degree in Finance and Investment in 2011.
His professional trajectory commenced with roles as an Investment Analyst at Ray and Associates, UK, followed by a tenure as a Freelance Consultant at Action Aid UK. However, his dedication to public service propelled him into politics, leading to his election to parliament on 7 January 2013 under the New Patriotic Party’s banner, representing the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency in the 6th parliament. During this tenure, he served on significant committees, including Mines and Energy, and the Standing Orders Committee.
His dedication to public service was further recognized when he was appointed as the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme in 2017. Subsequently, his wealth of experience and leadership qualities led to his nomination as Minister of Youth and Sports by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2021. Following a successful vetting process in the Parliament of Ghana, he was sworn into office on 5 March 2021, assuming responsibility for shaping the nation’s youth and sports policies during the president’s second term.
